FLIGHT SAFETY
- Approach or leave machine in a crouching manner (for extra clearance from the main rotor.)
- Approach or leave on the down slope side (to avoid main rotor)..
- Approach or leave in pilot's field of vision (to avoid tail rotor).
- Carry tools horizontally, below waist level (never upright or over shoulder.)
- Hold on to hard hat, unless chin straps are used. Baseball caps can be placed in pocket when approaching or leaving machine.
- Landing direction: Whenever possible, set up the landing zone so that the aircraft can land and depart into the wind.
- Landing at Night: when using vehicles to light a landing zone, the vehicles' headlights should point in the direction you wish the aircraft to land. At no time should headlights, spotlights, or any other light be aimed at the aircraft.
- Ground to Air Communications: when directing the aircraft into a landing site, be very specific about obstacles and hazards.
