HOSPITAL WING FLIGHT NURSES
Hospital Wing's nursing staff consists of 1 chief flight nurse and 17 flight nurses. The requirements to be a Hospital Wing Flight Nurse are:
- A minimum of 5 years critical care experience
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- BTLS (Basic Trauma Life Support)
- CEN, CCRN, or CFRN
- EMT certified
Our flight nurses have an average of over 15 years of critical care experience. Once hired at Hospital Wing, they go through vigorous orientation lasting approximately 3 months. The flight nurses at Hospital Wing are trained in advanced procedures such as intubation and chest tube insertion. We transport many types of patients: trauma, cardiac (including balloon pumps), pediatric, neuro, burn, and other types of medicine patients. Approximately half of our flight nurses also maintain current paramedic licensure.
